Pregnant & Parenting Youth
The PPY program is a component of SPOC that serves out-of-school pregnant and parenting youth. The program offers job development skills and literacy education customized to each participant’s individual goal, whether it is attaining a GED, high school diploma or finding employment. Other supportive services deemed necessary such as counseling, health and nutrition education may also be provided.
The eligible participant must be an expectant parent or the parent of a child under the age of six and receiving TANF benefits. All clients, at the time of enrollment, must be at least 18 years of age, but not yet 22 years of age who have not earned a high school diploma or GED. The PPY component is meant to serve young adults who need a more comprehensive approach to service delivery than is normally afforded through regular SPOC services.
NOTE: Clients participating in the PPY component need not be female. Teen fathers who are otherwise eligible for SPOC may also be served.
