Fatherhood Initiative

Target Population: The focus of the Fatherhood Initiative is to assist custodial or non-custodial fathers, ages 18 or older, in securing gainful employment. The participants are eligible whether or not they have received a high school diploma or GED.

Program Design: Participants may utilize the full range of SPOC services. Fatherhood Initiative offers all eligible participants the following services:

  • GED Preparation
  • Job Readiness
  • Parenting Skills
  • Computer Skills
  • Career Development
  • Skills Training
  • Job Placement
  • Case Management
  • Mentoring
  • Transportation Vouchers
  • Clothing Allowance

Eligibility: The prospective clients must meet all of the following eligibility criteria:
  • Pennsylvania resident
  • Custodial or non-custodial parent of a child
  • Earn less than 235 percent of the Federal Poverty Income Guidelines
  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • Must have established paternity or be willing to do so within three weeks of enrollment
