Health Information Help Desk

Health Information at Your Fingertips!

In order to fully comply with ASFA and with our mission of addressing child and family well being, it's crucial for our agency to comprehensively assess and address the physical health needs of children in our care. As part of our efforts to improve accessibility to critical service information and resources, we have implemented a Health Information Help Desk for your use. You can now call the line with your questions or concerns and we will promptly answer your request. Eventually, this Health Information Help Desk will be virtual and interactive right here on DHS Central.

If you have any questions regarding the health care of your clients, the Help Desk is now here to assist you.

Call the Health Information Help Desk 683-6263 or email DHShealth@phila.gov

The Health Information Help Desk is an expansion of the Managed Care Unit (MCU) hotline, which will continue to help you with health insurance, PCP and HMO questions. The difference is that now we will also be able to assist and support you with concerns and questions around the health care needs of your clients.

Did You Ever:

  • Want to know the side effects of a certain medication?
  • Wonder just what the MD is saying about your client?
  • Need to find out what does PPD mean?
  • Want to know the difference between a Tine test and PPD?

What to do:

Please call 683-6263 and leave a message on the Health Information Help Desk. You will not get a live voice but your call will be returned in 30 minutes by a member of the MCU, first to let you know that we received your call and possibly will need some additional information from you before we can respond to your inquiry. You can also email us with your question or concern to DHShealth@phila.gov (from within DHS you can just type DHS Health). If you would rather talk in person, then come visit us on the 7th floor. We will follow up on your question or concern and promptly get back to you with our findings. In some cases, we may need additional time to respond – for example, if we need to consult with our medical advisor before giving you an answer.
