Reasonable Efforts in Assessment Access and Prevention(REAAP)

REAAP is a family-centered support program that provides client assessment, case management and consistent monitoring to families whose children are exhibiting behavior that is out of the parent’s control or placing the child at risk. These behaviors include, but are not limited to, truancy, drug and alcohol abuse, curfew problems and running away. The program engages both the parent and child in seeking resolution to the problems that have been presented.
The REAAP unit also conducts investigations of individuals who are seeking custody of minors that are unrelated to them and processes Under-ten petitions. Under-ten petitions are utilized in cases where a child under ten commits an act that would be considered delinquent if the child were of age. In these cases, the REAAP unit attempts to mediate the complaint, divert the matter to appropriate community resources or files a dependent petition on behalf of the complainant.
REAAP accepts referrals from parents, teachers and professionals in the child welfare system. Referrals can be made through IRSS.
