DHS has established an email Help Desk to answer any questions social workers have about conducting safety assessments or implementing safety plans for their clients. The Help Desk was created in response to feedback from staff on the need for clear and timely communication as DHS adopts a family focused, safety driven model of practice.

The Help Desk will provide timely responses to social workers questions it will also ensure consistency in the way social workers:

  • apply the safety assessment model
  • address safety threats
  • conduct safety analysis’s
  • make distinctions between assessments of safe, unsafe, or safe with a comprehensive plan

The Help Desk will also be useful in identifying issues requiring further clarification or consideration such as interpretation of DHS and DPW policy or issues related to definitions and terms. Questions and responses will be recorded on DHS’ internal Web site.
